31 Day Writing Challenge: Day 9 - 'Fall'
"Just let go. All you have to do is fall. Then it will all be over. The voices wont be able to hurt you anymore."
All she had to do was open her hands and fall. He could feel her resolve to hold on to the railings, and to life, weaken. How he loved toying with mortals, especially the truly innocent. He favoured the ones destined for Heaven, that he could make sure went to Hell. They'd live pure lives only for him to consume their minds to the point they choose to take their own lives. With one act, they'd condemn themselves.
She leaned forward into the black abyss, her armed stretched behind her. This was it. Another innocent choosing their eternal damnation.
"Just let go, Be free, From pain. From the voices. Let go. It will be like falling asleep."
Her grip began to loosen and the wind made her body sway. The rain pelted her, adding to her misery and hiding her tears.
He could feel her mind trying to fight against his influence, but her survival instinct was as weak as her hold on the bridge.
"There's nothing for you to stay for. There's no one who cares for you. Look around, you're all alone. You want to do this and no one wants to stop you. You don't have to do anything, just stop holding on. All you have to do is fall."
Suddenly, her left hand lost its grip and she jolted towards the inky depths below.
"Now. Fall now."
"No!" She yelled into the darkness as her brain fought back.
