31 Day Writing Challenge #2: Day 8 - 'Sunshine.'

"You know she'll never forgive you for this." Myka said gravely, doubting that her brother had really thought things through. "Sacrificing her so that you can bask in the sunshine."

Reed rolled his eyes. "It's not like she'll be around to forgive me anyway."

"Isaac will be at the ceremony. She may have chosen you, but he will still always choose her. Do you really think he will let her die? Even if you get far enough to complete the ritual and turn human, he will just turn her. She'll be a vampire and you will be mortal. So you had better enjoy your time in the sun, brother, because it will not last long."

Doubt in his genius plan flashed in Reed's eyes. "He might not get there in time. The is no guarantee that the turning to work. You know that." He sneered at his sister, taking his fear out on her. Guilt and pain etched themselves on Myka's face at her brother's cruel reminder. "I'll make sure he is stood far and his view obscured."

"If she dies, it'll be worse for you." Reed looked at Myka skeptically. "Isaac is the oldest and most powerful of us all, in both ability and standing, do you really think he would just let you go if you killed her? He loves her. If she dies, he won't rein himself in. You wont survive long enough to see the sun or feel it on your skin."
